The Stanford MBA Program maintains that strong leadership "is as much a mindset as a skill set, and to make a difference in the organizations you will serve, you need both." Accordingly, they aim to deliver a "leadership education that prepares you for your next job-and for career moves 30 years from now."

History

Stanford's 8,100 acres once served as Leland and Jane Stanford’s trotting horse farm, and is now home to the 1,200 acre central campus and rolling foothills. The university opened its doors in 1891, and is still commonly referred to as "The Farm," in reference to the land's previous function.

Leland Stanford was the Governor of California during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, and later became a U.S. Senator. He was heavily involved in organizing the building of the first transcontinental railroad, a revolutionary milestone for the country.

The Business School was founded in 1925. Numerous graduates went on to lead well-respected corporations, found innovative companies and become political leaders. Many alumni remain involved through networking, speaking engagements and financial support.
