Esmé Webb
Associate Manager of Operations |
The Canadian born and raised daughter of a British mother and Texan father, Esmé recently arrived in New York to explore her American heritage, gamely trading universal healthcare for the right to bear arms and misspell a broad selection of words ranging from 'gray' to 'favorite'. After spending a summer sampling the city’s labor offerings, she has happily taken on a full-time position as locations expert and all around Operations factotum at Manhattan GMAT, and continues to love the bike commute from her north Brooklyn home to Chelsea each day.
Esmé arrives in the Big Apple via Alaska, Scotland, a smattering of Canadian cities, and a hard-fought Honors BA in East-Asian Studies from the University of Toronto. Ask her to say something in Mandarin! After several years of intensive study, she can confidently hold forth on any number of subjects to a crowd of five-year-old Chinese kids.
When she's not busy defending her northern homeland's honor to the general mirth of her American colleagues, she can be found sifting through her medical records for pre-existing conditions that might prevent her from taking advantage of the best healthcare system on earth. She also acts as research assistant for a professor studying social segregation in colonial Calcutta and Bombay, and is in the early stages of composing a history of the water tower in New York City. In her leisure time, she can be found exploring her beloved new adoptive city, desperately searching for her next caffeine fix, or dozing on the couch.
