Tina Schweizer
Marketing & Student Services Associate |
Tina graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from NYU in 2008. While studying abroad, she dodged bulls in Spain and dodged bullets in the West Bank. Her firsthand experience with different cultural and political contexts inspired her to contribute to academic research related to social justice and psychology. During her undergraduate career, she co-authored an academic paper on how political discrimination affects ethnopolitical violence and completed a grant-funded, award-winning honors psychology thesis. Through her research, she found that Conservatives and Liberals react differently to persuasive messages because they differ in the extent to which they seek quick, closure-providing answers or enjoy contemplating. In a nutshell, Conservatives love Rush Limbaugh because he speaks from his gut. Liberals love NPR because they overanalyze everything.
Since joining the ManhattanGMAT Marketing and Student Services team in the winter of 2008, she has enjoyed instilling students with a sense of self-efficacy to reach their GMAT goals. One of her main philosophies on life is that given the proper time, energy, and resources, people can achieve anything… including that 760!
Coming from Reno, Nevada, Tina had her fill of flashing lights, never-ending all-you-can-drink alcohol at the blackjack tables, biker conventions, and rodeo clowns, and decided to move east to quench her insatiable desire to live in a city with a police force that is respectably portrayed on TV.
When not assisting students with GMAT prep, or conducting social psychological studies as an NYU Lab Manager, she enjoys indulging in new experiences through traveling (and getting lost), viewing independent films, and attending art exhibits in a city with a real cultural district. She currently resides in Brooklyn.
