Sam Edla Director of Information Technology

Joining the team in 2006 as the Director of Information Technology, Sam is not your typical IT geek. In fact, he did not even own a computer until his senior year in college (which was not THAT long ago).  Before joining the Manhattan GMAT team, Sam worked for Synergy Global Solutions as a Senior Systems Engineer with multiple clients in New York City.  He has 8 years of consulting experience in the Banking/Finance, and non-profit sectors.

Sam was born in India and immigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old.  Speaking nary a word of English, he learned the language in true American fashion by watching the Smurfs, Transformers, and Fraggle Rock on Saturday morning cartoons.  After settling in Rockland County, NY and graduating from high school, Sam made his way upstate to the University of Buffalo where he majored in Physics with a focus on research.  After contemplating a career as an educator or joining a culinary institute, (if it wasn’t for those crazy hours on the weekends) he naively decided to pursue a less weekend-intensive career in computer technology. Little did he know about the IT world and the 24/7 on-call requirements.

Now, Sam lives in Astoria with his better half and wife, Kristin.  In his free time, he enjoys anything but working with computers.  On the weekends, you can find him cooking, hiking, snowboarding, reading, going to concerts, or strolling around the city with his camera in tow.
