Patrick Tyrrell

Manhattan GMAT Instructor, Patrick Tyrrell
Patrick Tyrrell
Los Angeles, California

Patrick hails from Gaithersburg, Maryland, and if you examine his fingernails closely, you can still see the Old Bay Seasoning beneath. In order to keep his rock band intact, he attended the University of Maryland with all too many of his former high school classmates. In order to avoid gaining any employable skills, he studied Philosophy, winning the W.E. Schlaretski award for being at the top of his class. (Yes, it was a graduating class of only eight students, but don't let that detract from the formidable prestige of the Schlaretski name.)

After ten years of touring the eastern states, Patrick's band imploded and Patrick carried through on a long-held threat to move to California. Once in LA, he started teaching for Another Test Prep company, teaching GMAT, LSAT, GRE, SAT, and ACT. He was a natural fit for the job, having always been a straight-A student and having always envisioned teaching as his back-up plan to rock stardom.

Although his 780 GMAT and 178 LSAT scores make grad school a temptation, Patrick is overjoyed to have his current job and current life. In his off-hours, he writes and records a catalog of original music, and in his on-hours, he is eager to transfer his test-taking acumen to those who want to make use of it. He hopes that his inexhaustible good mood and sense of humor will make your test prep experience an enjoyable one.

Feedback From Patrick's Recent Students

"Patrick was engaging, enthusiastic and well informed. Since I was attending classes directly after a full day's work, a less enthusiastic or quiet teacher could have easily lost my attention. I never found this to be the case with Patrick. At no time did I question his knowledge of the material. He always seemed to know the multiple ways to attack problems and was good at conveying them to us. The material seemed to come easy for him, but at no point did he seem to have trouble translating it for us."

"Patrick is a fantastic instructor overall; however, it is his sense of humor I enjoyed the most. Many of the topics covered are inherently boring but Patrick was able to keep everyone engaged wit his fun and witty comments."
