Graham Riske: GMAT Instructor in New York
Graham Riske
New York, New York

A surfer boy raised near Venice Beach, California, Graham traveled solo at the tender age of 14 to Spain. During that summer, he was bitten hard by the travel bug and has been on the run ever since. His journeys have led him to surfing in the Bahamas, snowboarding the undiscovered snow-capped mountains of Eastern Europe, living in a Nicaraguan orphanage, leading tours to the Galapagos and Amazon, exploring the underbelly of communism in Cuba, and working as a linehandler in the Panama Canal. In Seoul, Korea, Graham started teaching high schoolers (it paid more than mending hammocks) and discovered another passion: teaching.

In between his treks, Graham found time to receive a degree from Brown University, Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation, he worked as an educational consultant, setting up a college admissions program in Istanbul, Turkey, an entrepreneurial endeavor he continues to this day. Also, during this time, Graham took the GMAT, scoring a 780.

Graham is ecstatic to be part of the Manhattan GMAT team, teaching potential investment bankers and venture capitalists. When he isn't off chasing sunsets, Graham stays busy writing travel articles for various publications, training for triathlons, and single handedly keeping several local used bookshops and indie movie theaters in business (you can take the kid out of film-obsessed L.A. but you can't…).

Feedback From Graham's Recent Students

“Graham is very friendly but he also really knows his material. He is able to connect material and provide different ways to attack a question. At the very least, he builds on strategies talked about in our booklet or he provides quick strategies to decrease your chances of answering incorrectly.”

“Intelligently responded to most questions and often provided alternate explanations if needed. Ability to teach course materials without slides. Provided unique perspective beyond take-home material. Provided strategies beyond take-home material.”
