Manhattan GMAT Instructor, Mark Porath
Mark Porath
Atlanta, Georgia

After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Mark traded his shovel for shades and accepted a full ride to Arizona State University. He joined a national test prep company to develop strong communication skills, and immediately loved teaching. As a 20-year-old, he was the company’s youngest Master Instructor and Trainer.

Presented with the opportunity to travel, Mark wasted no time. He trained instructors in Ohio, Arizona, California, Singapore, and Thailand, where he also taught full-time for two years. Whether celebrating New Year's Eve with a farmer's family in Laos, or practicing GMAT questions with his students in Bangkok, Mark was meeting remarkable people and having the time of his life.

Mark returned stateside to re-unite with family, watch ESPN, and study the brain. In 2006, he entered the Neuroscience graduate program at Emory University. Before moving to Atlanta, he made a pit stop in the nation’s capital. During an 18-week stint in Washington, DC, Mark logged 300+ hours of GMAT instruction. His students were so satisfied that his boss offered to purchase his GMAT notes for distribution to other instructors.

Now settled in Atlanta, Mark is poised to feed the brains of GMAT students once again. Eager to join the Manhattan GMAT team, he registered for his first official GMAT in 2008 and scored 770. Mark is excited to help talented students bring home top-notch scores.

Feedback From Mark’s Recent Students

“Clearing the difficulty in a very interactive manner. Also, he knows how to turn the path of someone's analysis for a question without making them completely wrong which I feel is very motivating and effective.”

“I feel that Mark was able to relate to all his pupils very well. He has an instinctive ability to communicate well with a diverse group of people.”
