Kate McKeon
Dallas, Texas |
Recently detained in Northern Cyprus by the Turkish Authorities, Kate frequently enjoys cross-cultural immersion opportunities, and is very thankful she knows diplomats and Marines.
Kate has an accomplished use of four letter words stemming from her years in the construction industry. This was quite helpful in conversations with the future I-bankers at b-school though she found their lack of operational experience to be a real drag and immediately crossed IB off the list of possibilities. As she likes to put it, "If you haven't had to put payroll on your own credit card, you have not experienced the excitement of business." Kate has owned multiple businesses and currently serves as talent for hire.
Kate has ventured back to school twice for master-level work. Mastering none other than the arts of student leadership and socializing, she is a champion wheelbarrow racer. She has enjoyed education on the East coast, West coast and deep in the Heart of Texas. She bleeds maroon.
Despite undergraduate studies in Finance (and Civil Engineering), an MBA and a post-graduate year in the PhD Finance program, Kate has only recently discovered cash as a means for payment for the tutoring services she's been giving away for over 20 years . . . a bit embarrassed about this recent revelation, she can only talk about it in the third person. As it turns out wine and Chiclets are not sufficient to pay for her book habit.
When she's not working she is probably running, flying or watching hockey. She is considering a career as a racecar driver. Kate loves Excel and the Berkeley Bowl (grocery store in CA).
Feedback From Kate's Recent Students
“Kate is very good at explaining concepts and providing memorable examples and applications for the concept. She seems to know the GMAT inside and out and it is helpful to hear her give real life examples of her GMAT experience.”
“Kate is very energetic (speaks clearly, not monotone, moves around the room). She makes a not so fun topic interesting by engaging everybody to participate. Kate is a very nice person in general who really cares about every student”
