Dmitry Farber
San Diego, California |
Dmitry Farber began his teaching career in the test prep world, teaching SAT, GMAT, and LSAT for several years before entering elementary education. He has been teaching at San Diego Cooperative Charter School since its inception in 2002, earning an M.S. in Environmental Education along the way. He is excited to have come full circle and plunged back into the madcap world of test preparation.
Having been raised by a professor and a preschool teacher, Dmitry spent many years trying to escape his teacherly fate. His early jobs included running a karaoke show, writing a travel guide for a place he’d never visited, and role-playing the part of a pushy boyfriend so that girls in a public health study could learn to say no. It should be added that the aforementioned girls were quite successful, despite Dmitry’s winning combination of braces and unkempt college beard.
Dmitry lives in San Diego with his wife, Cindy, their toddling daughter, Luna, their beagle, April, and a parakeet who prefers to remain nameless (she just flew into the house one day). Aside from Data Sufficiency, his main passions in life are music (especially classic jazz and R&B) and literature. A lifelong performer, he tries to sing with a band as often as possible, which usually goes well until someone lets him play guitar. In his quiet moments, Dmitry will sit reflectively with a plate of vegan cookies, trying to get his novel to sit still long enough for him to write it down. He’s been waiting a long time, but the cookies are good, and he is nothing if not patient.
