Alexandra Cappy, Manhattan GMAT Instructor in Philadelphia
Alexandra Cappy
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Born in Kentucky and raised in Florence, Italy, Alex now resides in New York, by way of Nashville, DC, and Philadelphia. Alex attended Vanderbilt University, where she first discovered her love of teaching, tutoring fellow students in Economics and Italian. Unfortunately, not even four years in the home of the CMA’s could make her a true country music fan, but Alex now considers herself “tolerant” of others’ musical beliefs.

After spending a few summers working in wine import, Alex came to realize that 1) it was harder than it looked; 2) a freak tastebud accident would prevent her from ever becoming a Master Sommelier; and 3) she and wine could stay close without having a professional relationship anyway. After college, Alex relocated to DC, where she spent several years working in supply chain consulting and executive education. That’s where she developed an expertise in a wide range of supply chain issues, including effective distribution network design and the importance of keeping container ships away from pirates.

Pirates and supply chains were fun while they lasted, but Alex ultimately decided that business school was the right next step for her. She earned a 770 on the GMAT, and credits her studies with Manhattan GMAT with helping her achieve such an impressive score. She has since completed her MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Marketing and Operations Management. She is now a management consultant based in New York.

Outside the classroom, Alex can be found reading all things sci-fi, catching up with her many younger siblings, scheming about upcoming travels, cooking meals that don’t fit in her kitchen, and mourning the loss of Franklin – the fish.

Feedback From Alexandra’s Recent Students

“She was very friendly and approachable with questions and explanations. When she explained an answer, she was often very thorough and made sure all students understood the explanation before moving on. ”
