Tony Caldarone
Toronto, Canada

Joining the Manhattan team from north of the border, Tony adds thorough knowledge of the GMAT to the requisite Canadian subjects of beer and hockey. Although he won multiple golds for his country in the World Beer Games, he can't skate very well, and so he realized it was time to apply his efforts elsewhere.

Having an undergraduate background in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada's MIT), Tony found breaking apart a standardized test into its nuts and bolts to be a fun challenge (geeks find entertainment in strange places). Tony's first assessment as an IT consultant noted that "by far Tony's greatest strength is his laziness", and this quality has led Tony to search high and wide for easier ways to solve GMAT problems.

With a score of 770 under his belt, Tony began teaching the GMAT in 2003, and later opened his own test prep company in Toronto, before deciding that Manhattan GMAT was simply much cooler.

When not reading Garner's Modern American Usage to shore up on his Verbal skills, Tony is usually enjoying a movie, reading about poker theory, or, unlike MGMAT CEO Andrew Yang, pretending to be Rocky from Rocky IV. This could make for an interesting Christmas party...

Feedback From Tony’s Recent Students

“Tony has gone above and beyond the call duty in terms of the tutorial service he provides. None of the other tutors offered to provide a review of the tutorial session but Tony offered to write up an entire review of what we went over and he was on vacation! He let me know how he had mastered the exam and went into extensive detail about how to answer each and every question. It seemed as though he really cared about my performance on the GMAT as opposed to just doing a job”

“In my opinion, MGMAT is incredibly lucky to have an instructor like Tony facilitating their classes. His experience and grasp of the subject matter was evident through his charismatic approach to solving various problems, as well as his willingness to provide students with extra help outside of the classroom at his own expense. Tony was the best instructor that we could have asked for. ”
