Kim Cabot
Kim was born, raised and has almost continually resided in California, making her part of a demographic minority – Californians who were actually born in California. Along the way she’s seen the breadth of what this diverse state has to offer, from making illegal buys from the unpasteurized milk farm with her hippie mom (nothing like warm milk straight from the cow!) to dodging coach bags and fake tans on campus at UC San Diego. But most of all, Kim loves that California is the sort of great place where it’s cool to geek out about just about anything – from how tiny your carbon footprint is to that awesome new algorithm you’ve been working on.
While still in college, Kim interned with her first start-up, a company streaming live music dedications online (trust us, that used to be really cool stuff), and started an ongoing geek-out affair with entrepreneurship. Since graduating with an honors degree in Psychology from UC San Diego, Kim has worked with six other start-ups and co-founded three including, most recently, an organic spa body care company where she currently serves as President and Managing Director.
Along the way, Kim found that the best counterpoint to the often draining and isolating world of business management was teaching standardized test classes. A veteran 99th percentile scorer on multiple tests (Kim boasts a 770 on the GMAT), Kim has taught the SAT and GMAT in classes and seminars ranging in size from 1 to over 500. Her enthusiasm for the material and passion for her students (aided, perhaps, by her excitement about escaping the office) have cemented her reputation as an energetic, entertaining, and effective instructor.
