Manhattan GMAT Instructor, Jason Arvanites
Jason Arvanites
Los Angeles, California

Jason joined Teach For America in 2006 and since then has been molding the minds of inner city youth as a seventh grade science and health teacher. In addition to eliminating the education gap and positively altering the lives of his students he is working on building his street cred by learning the Soulja Boy "superman dance."

Having a philosophy degree from the University of Chicago provides evidence that Jason 1) is a big dork and 2) spent four years learning that he doesn't know anything. As a corollary to these two things, he also learned that if you think hard enough about anything, you can make it not funny. The degree does not explain why Jason is thinking about going to business school, why he scored 770 on the GMAT the first time he took it or why he prefers to spend his money on wine instead of saving for retirement.

Currently Jason resides in Echo Park, Los Angeles. He would like you to know that he was born and raised there and has been going to the same Mexican restaurant his entire life. When not working or doing other useful things he enjoys sleeping in a tent and climbing large rocks. Oh, and he has a Masters in Education. So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Feedback From Jason’s Recent Students

“Jason was always available for extra help and very willing to speak with the students outside of his regular working hours. He is friendly and funny and that helped the class run smooth (and fast) He is also very knowledgeable, which helps.”

“He was able to make a 3 hour course go by very quickly. Also, he was very good at breaking down a question in terms of why answer choices are correct or incorrect.”
