Leah Hoyer
A Seattle native and member of the Washington State Bar, Leah left her damp, lawyerly life behind and moved to sunny southern California to pursue her passion for cartoons. Since earning her MFA in Animation from UCLA’s School of Film & Television, she has worked on numerous animated shows, including “Recess,” “Kim Possible,” and “Phineas & Ferb.”
Being the daughter of two school teachers, Leah has always been drawn to teaching. She has taught swimming lessons, coached various sports, led animation classes at UCLA, been a PE teacher for hearing impaired children, and certified numerous people in CPR. Some of her favorite teaching, though, has been test preparation. With over seven years of experience teaching the GMAT, LSAT and GRE, she has helped hundreds of students get into graduate school. She particularly loves being a part of those moments when students connect with the material in a new way.
Leah spends most of her free time scouring flea markets, beginning (and sometimes completing) home improvement projects, and training for triathlons. She is currently learning to play the banjo and lay tile, but not simultaneously.
Feedback From Leah’s Recent Students
“Leah is very nice and very dedicated to helping everyone understand the material. Besides the books strategies, she has a few extra of her own (based on her experiences) that have been helpful. She is very energetic and makes learning the material more enjoyable.”
“She's really helpful and willing to help before class.”
