Manhattan GMAT Instructor, Neil Hwang
Neil Hwang
Stamford, CT

Towering over everyone else at 5’7”, Neil Hwang graduated from Weber State University with degrees in mathematics and economics, along with a “surprise” military order to deploy to Iraq for two years. Dodging rocket-propelled grenades and enemy fire in combat, Neil still found the time to study for and earn 99th percentile scores on GMAT, GRE, and LSAT. The news about Neil’s success with the standardized exams in the battlefield motivated many soldiers in Iraq and Kuwait to follow his footsteps. Eventually, Neil, along with two of his colleagues in the Army, organized regular classes teaching SATs and GEDs in Iraq and Kuwait, helping soldiers gain admission to colleges upon their return home.

Following his stint in the Army, Neil enrolled at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government to study public policy, and later attended MIT Sloan and Yale for his MBA and JD. Throughout his educational career, Neil taught the GMAT at Veritas Elite GMAT Prep and various courses in finance and economics as a teaching assistant. When he is not teaching GMAT classes or tutoring students, Neil spends his time working with corporate clients as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
