Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, J.R. studied English at Dartmouth College before embarking on a career with positions in investment banking, for-profit education, the public sector, brand management, and now the automotive industry. These jobs involved stints in Boston, San Francisco, San Diego and Chicago, along with four months of solo travel overseas. He still does not know what he wants to be when he grows up.
J.R. began his teaching career with Manhattan GMAT in 2004 while a full-time student at Kellogg. He helped launch the company’s Chicago center while serving in his day job as a Broad Resident in Urban Education for the Chicago Public School district, redesigning the non-instructional support systems for CPS’ 600 schools. Now back in his hometown, JR presently works with his father in the family business, operating a Fort Wayne car dealership. Outside the classroom, J.R. enjoys golf, woodworking, and spending time with wife Jeannie and one-year-old son Noah.
