Abby Pelcyger
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania |
Abby spent several years as an analyst for Charles River Associates and the Foundation Strategy Group. Joining Teach For America, as a two-year hiatus from her consulting career, no one was more shocked than she was to discover her passion for teaching. Still at her Teach For America placement school, Abby currently teaches science to kindergarten through eighth grade students (yes, that’s right: all nine grades) in Philadelphia and has earned her Masters in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
When not putting her MIT B.S. in Chemical Engineering to good use teaching fourth graders how to care for crayfish, making up songs about the plant life cycle for her first graders, or flying soda bottle rockets with her sixth graders, Abby spends her free time taking Latin dance classes, teaching current TFA corps members at the University of Pennsylvania, and greedily taking as many courses as possible offered by the Franklin Institute.
With a 750 GMAT score (back when that was in the 99th percentile), Abby is excited to have joined Manhattan GMAT’s team - and to finally have a job to pay for her teaching habit.
Feedback From Abby’s Recent Students
“Abby had a command of the information taught and was very successfully able to answer most of our toughest questions in a clear, direct and often times, simple manner. She was also extremely friendly and committed- always offering to answer questions before class, after class, and during breaks.”
“Abby has an incredible ability to explain the most complex questions in a simple manner. Her teaching method is very strong and she preps the class to meet all students objectives.”
