Jake Nicholson
Currently studying entrepreneurship with a side of fois gras at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, Jake enjoys anchoring himself by teaching for Manhattan GMAT in Paris. After graduating magna cum laude from Middlebury College in Vermont, Jake dove right into a pedagogical career as an English/drama/math teacher at an international school in Thailand. He then taught in rural Vermont and in the jungles of Brooklyn, and he spiced up his summers by leading tours in Europe and Southeast Asia. Subsequently, Jake found himself acting on the sets and stages of NYC before embarking upon a three-year stint in Manhattan real estate.
For Jake, teaching at Manhattan GMAT is a return to his roots. Since Mr. Pfeiffer worked through Crime and Punishment with Jake in high school, he knew he wanted to bring that same sense of enlightenment to future students, and he has been fortunate enough to do so on several continents. Jake believes that students learn best when they are inspired. A great teacher, he contends, should therefore verge on inspirational.
Although some may argue that the GMAT is anything but inspirational, Jake would love to prove them wrong. Impressively, Jake is able to call upon his varied experiences to slay such GMAT dragons as subject-verb agreement and data sufficiency, and he takes pride in teaching his apprentices to do the same. Jake encourages his students to see each problem as a game, one that they can master with practice. His students feed off his theatrical energy and exeunt from each of his lessons a bit more confident in their own ability to conquer the GMAT.
Jake now lives in a quaint French cottage with his fiancée, his golden retriever Cookie, his Cocker Spaniel Luca, and his tabby cat Kiwi, all of whom have scored in the 99th percentile.
