Manhattan GMAT Instructor, Horacio Quiroga
Horacio Quiroga
Buenos Aires, Argentina

Fourteen years of teaching, five of which were at the English Language Department at Accenture in Buenos Aires, have not been able to satiate Horacio's (pronounced ho-‘rei-shu) appetite to teach. Many poor swings on the links have failed to convince him that golf is not his true calling. Horacio continues to pursue both of these passions in earnest.

Currently dividing his time between Buenos Aires and Montevideo and working towards his Ph.D. in Latin American Studies, Horacio got his MBA with a concentration in Finance and an MA in Latin American Studies / Political Science from Tulane University. He lived in Argentina for eleven years and also spent time in Brazil, where he learned to speak Portuguese and came to love Brazil's culture. He has taught English as a Foreign Language, the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT to hundreds of people. He has taken the GMAT several times and is the bearer of a 760, 99th percentile, score.

Students have praised Horacio's knack at "spotting students' weaknesses" and never "giving up until he sees the necessary improvement." Others have commended his extensive knowledge of the GMAT exam and the humor which he brings to the preparation process. "Horacio is a born teacher," a former student wrote, "and he has the ability to explain the most complex things in a few words."

Feedback From Horacio’s Recent Students

“He is very capable of explaining complicated problems and simplifying them for students. I have been using Horacio for a while for both verbal and math and he is just an amazing individual. He has helped boost my confidence in the test, improved my understanding of math concepts, and provided me with direction for improving verbal. I highly recommend him to anyone serious about his or her GMAT. Thanks to Manhattan GMAT for hiring such a talented and smart teacher.”

“Horacio proved to be an outstanding tutor. He was highly knowledgeable, easy to approach and adaptive to my learning needs. Three weeks before my scheduled GMAT test, I was struggling to complete the quant section within the given timeframe on my practice CATs. Horacio was able to pinpoint my weaknesses, highlight areas of improvement, and work with me to develop a strategy for test day.”
