Erica Lee: GMAT Tutor in New York
Erica Lee
New York, New York
After spending her college years at Yale studying History (and writing her senior thesis on WWII British Intelligence in Poland, of all things), she did what one naturally does with a degree in History – she went to work for the Gap at its corporate HQ in San Francisco. In addition to her regular job grappling with spreadsheets, inventing the replacement to blue jeans, and learning how to make the perfect fold, she taught retail math and finance to classes of newly inducted Gap, Inc. trainees.

Four years of California weather proved enough for her, however, and she returned to her hometown of New York to attend NYU's Stern School of Business. After graduating in 2005, she went to work for a small venture capital group and now spends her days running its portfolio start-up companies. The bearer of a 770 on the GMAT, she has been teaching at ManhattanGMAT since 2003.

Having spent a lot of time in classrooms and meetings, Erica knows all too well how important it is to keep sessions engaging and is frequently praised for her sparkling wit, enthusiasm, and "amazing ability to make those three hours of GMAT class time fly by." Students have remarked that Erica "challenges all in a positive manner" and "the quality of her communication and interaction with the class is superior."

When not in the classroom, Erica enjoys playing street hockey, eating ice cream, and listening to music.

Feedback From Erica's Recent Students

“Erica definitely sustains her energy and enthusiasm throughout the 3 hours, keeping us at a fast pace and engaged throughout. She is confident and knows the content so she makes me feel like I can trust what she tells me. She presents the material very clearly and articulates the reasoning of problems very articulately.”

“Erica has patience explaining the material; working with students and getting people engaged. She was really good at explaining why certain answers were wrong; and also very clear and detailed overall. She would break down complex concepts to easier topics we learned before.”
