Michael Kim
Los Angeles, California |
Not surprisingly, Michael entered college with entrepreneurial aspirations. He soon discovered, however, that he had a unique talent for writing short stories that no one could possibly be interested in, and when he graduated from Amherst College, he did so as an English major.
Off to Hollywood. For four years, Michael worked as a literary manager in a boutique firm that specialized in representing screenwriters. However, what he really wanted to do was to be the person on the flip side of the conversation – he wanted to be the writer. Ironically, the rigors of representing screenwriters made it impossible for him to devote any time to becoming one himself.
So, when fortune (the friend of a friend) called, Michael decided to return to teaching by becoming, of all things, a home schooling instructor for the Osbournes during the filming of their reality series. He has been splitting his energy between writing and teaching ever since. By day, he passionately pleads with producers to make movies no one could possibly want to see, and by night, he passionately pleads with students to become active and aggressive learners. Michael especially enjoys teaching the GMAT (he has scored 790 on an official exam) because it keeps him in the company of very smart and motivated individuals (usually), and because he is a self-proclaimed nerd who finds the test “pretty fun.”
Feedback From Keith’s Recent Students
“Mike's strongest attribute is his ability to thoroughly explain all topics and questions to the students. His break down of each question was helpful and very easy to understand.”
“Mike has the ability to answer all question types. He kept the class interesting. Mike would challenge the students by pushing them further.”
