Angela Guido
Chicago, Illinois |
At first she taught kidlets – 3-5 year-olds who barely spoke Korean, not to mention English. She loved them, though, and discovered that she wasn't half bad at teaching. So she traded up (down?) and taught college students before moving on to become a manager of training and HR initiatives at KPMG Seoul.
And this is how she accidentally discovered the GMAT. "Business?" she thought, "I don't stink at this either. Maybe an MBA is the thing!" So she packed her bags and headed for The University of Chicago GSB - after getting a 750 on the official test. That was back in the old days when that meant 99th percentile, of course.
After two years as a consultant with the a major strategy consulting firm, Angela now coordinates women's initiatives for the company in addition to moonlighting as a screenwriter, filmmaker, and producer of arts events.
Too bad Angela still hasn't answered the "what she wants to be when she grows up" question, but she is really enjoying teaching the GMAT while she figures it out. Oh yeah, and as you may have guessed, Angela's teaching philosophy stems from what she learned from 3-year-olds: If you give 'em a cookie, they'll just come back for more, but if you teach them how to make cookies, they'll go to business school and open up their own store.
