Business School Timeline

Getting into business school is a time-consuming process. Similar to college admissions, applying for an MBA demands a standardized test score, proper research, recommendation letters, and application essays oftentimes completed while trying to balance a full-time job. Because the prospective MBA candidate must meet several requirements before a deadline, starting early is a key to success. ManhattanGMAT has created a business school timeline to help you begin to think about how to best go about the application process.

Some important things to keep in mind when planning your personal timeline:
  • Your GMAT score is good for 5 years, so it may be a good idea to get the test out of the way even if you’re not planning to apply to business school immediately afterwards.
  • Most business schools, particularly the nationally-ranked programs, tend to have higher acceptance rates for the 1st and 2nd rounds. The 3rd round is generally tougher for applicants, given that many slots have already been filled.
  • Many applicants decide to take the GMAT early in the application process, in part because your score may serve to sharpen your list of target schools.
