Ex: Scientists have trained their telescopes on Arp 229, a pair of merging galaxies, and saw stars exploding in numbers far greater than expected.
1. and saw stars exploding in numbers far greater than expected 2. and saw stars exploding in numbers far greater than they were expecting 3. and saw stars exploding in far greater numbers than expected 4. and seen stars exploding in far greater numbers than being expected 5. and have seen stars exploding in far greater numbers than expected
Is (5) the right answer? BUt (1) seems right too.

Please read (and follow!) the forum guidelines before posting.
This folder is only for general strategy questions, not content or specific test problems. Check out the problem folders and post in the relevant folder depending upon the source of the problem you want to post (and make sure to follow the rules about banned sources). If you are a course student, you can also ask about other problems or issues before or after class or during office hours.
