In Aristotle SC Grail it is said that 'when' can refer only to a specific time period, and 'where' can refer only to a specific location. Therefore, the following sentences are incorrect:
x When the price goes up, the demand goes down. x To company where I work has gone bankrupt.
To me these sentences sound perfectly OK.
Could you please clarify this issue?

No. There is nothing wrong with either of these examples in the context of the rules you have provided..
