Hi,

I wrote 6 MGMATS:-
MGMAT1-660(45/35) - Taken on 07/28
MGMAT2-630(46/31) - Taken on 08/14
MGMAT3-670(45/36) - Taken on 08/15
MGMAT4-700(47/38) - Taken on 09/04
MGMAT5-700(44/41) - Taken on 09/18
MGMAT6-730(48/41) - Taken on 10/10

The mba.com prep results were
Prep Test1- 750(49/44) - Taken on 10/01
Prep Test2- 680(48/35) - Taken on 10/09
** All these tests were timed as per GMAT standards (75 min each) and were taken with AWA.

Well the verbal score in the real exam is really disheartening and I am really not sure what went wrong, i got 4 RCs, and i missed the last question - dont really know the penalty for that but it should not be more than 2 points at max.

Please suggest should i prepare for another GMAT and App next year or should i apply with these scores?
I am an Indian male with 6.5+ yrs of exp in IT product development domain.

Awaiting responses...
Warm regards,
Abhi.

Hey Abhi,

Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, the answer is quite complicated and will depend on a number of factors such as where you want to apply, your grades, work experience, etc. I recommend asking an MBA admissions consultant for advice. Our partner, mbaMission, offers free consultations. Learn more here: http://www.mbamission.com/consult.php

Hello Matt,

Thank you for the reply, may i ask you to please help me find my weaknesses in verbals, i am disheartened by the verbal score i got yesterday, i was consistently scoring 35+, in the prep exams and MGMATs. I am really finding it difficult to zero in on the problem area, how much would have the unanswered question cost me?
I feel I have the potential to score a 700+ I would really welcome suggestions on a comprehensive verbal improvement plan.
warm regards,
Abhi.

Hey Abhi,

I have a few articles from our blog to share with you which I think may help.

First, find possible reasons for why you didn't see the same GMAT score on test day that you were seeing on your practice tests: http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... ent-wrong/

Next, take a look at this list of our best how-to-study blog articles. Notable articles for improving your verbal performance I think will be Evaluating Your Practice Tests and the How to Analyze articles. http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... tudy-list/

It's also possible that your verbal foundations are not strong enough. You might want to think about picking up our new book, Foundations of GMAT Verbal Strategy Supplement. It will help you cement basic GMAT verbal concepts, making it easier for you to tackle more difficult problems. http://www.manhattangmat.com/storeitems ... 9&catid=10

Finally, I encourage you to post your question in the GMAT Strategy section of our forums (general-gmat-strategy-questions-f9.html). Make sure to read the posting rules and one of our Instructors should be able to give you some more advice.

Best,
