Hello there,

I am facing problem with SC Questions. I have gone through each page of Manhattan SC book twice (including the all the pages for Idiom chapter and exercises). Then I solved OG10, 12 and Verbal Review. Carefully checked all correct and incorrect answer choices for each and every question.

Now here the problem comes, when I gave GMAT prep exam 1 and exam 2, SC did not go well at all. each SC problem was new to me and I was not able to decide which error is tested in the problem, specifically in short SC sentences.

I was able cross out 3 answer choices (using split strategy given in Manhattan SC book), but I was not able to pick the correct one between the remaining two choices, resulting 50% of the questions from the exam wrong and spending more time with each SC question.

I am not finding a way out of this. I pretty much remember the rules given in Manhattan SC book but the major problem comes when I have to apply them in a real problem.

Basically what this means is that despite all the studying you've been doing, you've done it incorrectly. You need to train yourself to recognize parts of speech that will help you identify what the issues are that are being tested. Use this to decide which grammar rules to use and then practice implementing them. You mentioned nothing about this process in your post, and that is likely what is holding you back. Go back through the problems you've done and go through the correct process for each of them so that you can practice what this will be like on the actual test..
