Shortest piece of wood?

I saw this question on General Math question section:
five-pieces-of-wood-have-an-average-arithmatic-mean-length-t998.html

The answer listed there is B but why cant it be A?
With lengths being 90, 100, 140, 140, 150 (the mean is still 124 and the median is also 140)

Five pieces of wood have an average arithmatic mean length of 124 cms and a median length of 140 cms.What can be the maximum possible length in cms of the shortest piece of wood?

a.90
b.100
c.110
d.130
e.140

Kaveri, since the question asks for the "maximum" possible length and 100 is a possible answer, A cannot be the solution.
