Dear instructors,

I have the following questions:

1) I originally believed that the relative pronoun that referred to the AM-1 satellite.... clearly, I missed the TOUCH RULE. My questions:
What kind of phrase is one of the many new satellites? I wrongly considered this phrase a "mision-critical" modifier.
Moreover, the verb "is" would have indicate that the subject of the relative clause were satellites ?

2)... part of 15 years effort. In this case 15 years functions as an adjective and it should be 15-year effort. My question: This fault is enough to eliminate an answer choice?

Thank you for your comments.

Dear Ron,

I check the Forum everyday, hoping you answer this question.

Please help me with this other confusing concept:

Question # 52 - Verbal Review.

[deleted by moderator]

I got the answer in the following way:

(A) was out because developing independently from is not parallel to a branch.
(D) and (E) were out because instead of.
Between (B) and (C), I eliminated (C) because was more wordy.

Then, I got the right answer. But, when I read the explanation, I note:

The idiom independently from is different in meaning from the idiom independent of; the logic of this sentence requires the use of independently from.

I checked my MGMAT SC materials and I didn't find anything about it. Please could you explain the difference to me.

Thank you,
