Hi,

I would like to get your advice regarding retaking the GMAT after an application is submitted. I scored a 710, but my quant was low at 44 (66%). I'm applying to Haas, and I've read that they will only consider GMAT scores after you've applied if you defer your application to the next round -- is this always the case? Is it an option at all to write in your optional essay that you will be retaking the GMAT, or will this make it seem that you don't know this rule? I've heard you can mention this in your optional essay, and I was wondering if this could be a good idea for Haas or any other school.

Thanks!

Hi! You have to consider what each school prefers, and I always suggest calling the school to ask someone live what their preference is. There is so much information available online, but often it isn't reliable because it's not directly from the schools themselves.

Best of luck,
