Hey Guys,

In the Eq, Ineq, VICs book, I am working through the chapter on VICs. In the 'Algebraic VIC Example' Section on p. 118 it simplifies the term to this point:

ab-2=144/cd - 2

I understand this. However, the next step is:

ab-2=(144/cd)-(2cd/cd) then ab-2=(144-2cd)/cd

I can't seem to recall the algebraic rule that supports these two steps. Can someone refresh my memory?

I'd greatly appreciate it!

No kidding! Sleep deprivation and math ability are inversely correlated, I think.

But for the benefit of anyone else reading this...

...the rule is that when adding or subtracting fractions, and the denominator is the same, you just add or subtract the respective numerators.
