Hi, I came across the following problem

Early success and the arrogance it often fosters may lead growing companies to the creation of new divisions that are, increasingly, less related to their core business
a) the creation of new divisions that are, increasingly, less related

b) the creation of new divisions that are increasingly less related

c) create new divisions that are increasingly unrelated

d) be increasingly less related while creating new divisions

e) increasingly create new divisions with less relation

IMO,
The choice is between C and E.
And the major difference between C and E is the position of adverb "increasingly."
While an adverb can modify both verb(create) in E as well as participle(unrelated) as in C.
However, its role in E makes more sense to me.
"Increasinly unrelated" is not making sense to me.
Don't know how the OA is C though
If some expert could look into this.It would be of great help.

I think B should be the correct answer

The issue is split infinitive since nothing should come between 'to' and corresponding verb 'create'. Hence the correct answer should be C

Split infinitive. End of story. Well, actually there’s more to the story: the GMAT does not test split infinitives as near as we can tell, so this ends up being a pretty unrepresentative SC question. Stick to OG, GMAT Prep, and MGMAT materials for your study; they’ll more closely reflect what you’re likely to see on the real GMAT and not test you on irrelevant stuff..
