80/80 rule for GMAT?

hello - I've read some top tier schools rule out applicants based on Quant or Verbal scores below the 80th percentile.

i am trying to sort out what my score of 710 (93%V 79%Q) means for my hope to get into a full time program at a top tier school (U Chicago, Kellogg, Haas, Michigan). I have a strong GPA from undergrad at Northwestern University, consistent record of community service / extracurricular involvement, and will have 4+ years of consulting (including 2 in finance) experience when i apply.

Should i worry about my 79% on the Quant or will other aspects of my portfolio balance things out?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts

You're fine.

The 80/80 is a guideline, not some iron clad rule. You're already at 700+ and one of your scores is 1% shy of the 80/80. If you were an adcom would that really make a difference to you?

Focus on the rest of your candidacy.
