It looks like there is a new official testing tool how there other than gmatprep, http://www.gmatfocus.com/. It uses official questions. Does ManhattanGMAT have any insight into this tool?

It was just launched so we haven't checked it out in detail yet but I can tell you what GMAT told us about it last fall. It does use real past test questions and it is supposed to be used as a diagnostic tool to tell you what topics / questions you should pay extra attention to in OG. You'll actually get a list of questions in OG that are tied to the areas on which you struggled on this mini-diagnostic test.

Basically, if it does what they said it was going to do, it should be a good tool. And I have no reason to think that it won't do what they said it would do!

Is this a paid membership? Whats the price?

Has any one bought the 9 paper based tests on the mba.com website? Are they helpful? Worth 75USD?

I don't know what the pricing is - when they told me about it last fall, they should they were thinking of pricing each test (one for quant, one for verbal) at about 30USD, but I don't know what they actually did. You'll have to check out their website to see.

As for the paper tests, they're fine as practice questions but DO NOT take them as practice tests and think that they will be in any way representative of the CAT. Really - if you use the 1,400 questions in the three OG books and if you REALLY study and analyze those questions, you don't need additional practice questions beyond that. Don't just race through and do the 1,400 questions. Analyze them until you understand how the test works and can both recognize and do anything (or almost anything) they could throw at you.

It is indeed high quality, though it comes out to $1 per question! I tried the first set. The questions (if you get them all right) are as difficult as a 48-51Q scorer would see in the GMAT. The explanations are 11th Edition calibre, not as helpful as what Ron and Stacey usually post. I agree with Stacey in that between the 11th Edition, the Quant Review and the GMATPrep software, more than enough practice questions are available already. GMATFocus seems to be a good value only for those who have exhausted these resources.

I just purchased the GMAT focus option and was surprised by the difficulty of the computor adaptive questions. I have been scoring consistantly around 40 on the math section, but came in much lower on Focus. Has anyone else found that the focus questions are particularly harder? Should I be worried (I take my test in a week)

Unfortunately, we just don't have a lot of data on GMAT Focus yet - it launched very recently. So there's no consensus about whether it's easier, harder, like the real thing, whatever... :(

I just took a second test in the bundle. I think that the key factor was that the timing is different. It's only 24 questions in 46 minutes. I was expecting a full math exam which is rough. Also, the bundle is mysteriously lacking some of the geometry questions (my strong suite).

First score: 29 - 36
Second score - 39 - 46

I'm not quite sure it's worth what they are charging, the manhattan exams are certainly better value, but it is a good source of fresh questions and is full of NP and Algebra. I was also disapointed that GMAC is not letting us know how difficult a question is. It would be nice to know where mistakes lie on the percentile ranges.

Is GMATFOCUS All about Quantitative or Both Q and V?

It's just Quant. Each $25 test has 24 questions. I was expecting 37.

FYI - if you buy only one test, it's $30. You can also buy a set of three for $75 (so $25 each). So far they have only launched quant. The verbal version will launch "later this year" - don't know when. :(

I gave the only test on GMAT focus and have to admit that the questions are good.
its pricey though, more than a dollar per question.

ive also been consistently scoring in the 40's range on the mgmat but the focus questions are definitely a little harder with more emphasis on word problems. It's definitely costly but i think there is definitely an investment being made when you are exposed to more real gmat problems.

my first set was scored at: 30-39. looking forward to taking the next 2 sets.

I think GMAT focus is much easier the MGMAT quant. I had a score of 50-51 with 92% confidence level in GMAT focus a week ago. Now in my opinion, I am giving GMAT in 1 week, so please don't take these seriously (I have been proved wrong many times in the past):-

-Questions in GMAT focus are of same difficulty and style as OG11, which is what everyone is looking for.

- Questions are straightforward and if they are hard then deservedly so. If you are able to do the 200 words MGMAT questions(I hate the MGMAT Quants - sorry but there are so many words in MGMAT problem that makes you loose focus trying to get all the relevant data in your head) you will do very well on the GMAT focus tests. It has the distictive advantage that it tests your Quant intelligence without unnecessarily throwing too many data values at you in a single question.

I highly recommend GMAT focus - we all need feedback and what better way to get feedback than from GMAC itself.
