Arrange the earnigs inascending order and U will notice the median is 84. |

more to the point, you must notice that your 'list' does not consist of five numbers. it consists of twenty numbers:
48 48 70 70 70 || 80 80 80 80 84 || 84 84 84 84 84 || 84 96 96 96 96 the list has been separated into groups of five, for ease of reading. the median is the average of the 10th value (right before the middle slashes) and the 11th value (right after those slashes). since both of those values are 84, the median is 84. |
