2 questions

Does anyone suggest purchasing clear admit guides? or can suggest some other guides/books that might be helpful.

My boss has offered to write me a recommendation but I am afraid that he won't do a good job because I feel he might rush and/or his writing style may not be that great. Other than giving him bullet points of my accomplishments, any other suggestions on how I can help him without breaking the rules?
