 Post subject: Profile Evaluation please
Post Posted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 11:44 am
Hi,

I badly need some inputs to set my eyes on the right schools:

My background:Indian IT Engineer
Work Experience:3 years by July 2008(Thats when I intend to go)
GMAT score:710

Is it wise for me to aim for schools like Anderson,Darden(15-30) or are they
my stretch schools considering,i belong to an overrepresented catoegory?

Thanks a lot

Sumit,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Before I would be able to offer you any guidance, I would need a more profound window into your candidacy. Please offer details of your responsibilities, career progression, extra-curricular and community endeavors, as well as personal accomplishments.

I look forward to reading your next post.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald

Thanks a lot Jeremy! for your quick reply..

Coming to my Career progression...I can justify to the Adcoms my progression from a simple programmer to a Team Leader.
I can share a few Leadership issues I faced in a small team.

My Community Endeavors I would say are:

I mentor young students for their careers, personality development..etc.Children of age-group(10-15) say I am good teacher
I organise some functions, events in my locality,
I also organise few parties in my office and anchor for a few events in it.

My Extra-curriculars:
1)I have won prizes at various quizzes at national Level during High-school.(Most of them won at high school when I was (12-16))
2)I have a certificate as a national Merit Scholar,a rare distintinction our govt offers to few students every year(I won this when I was 15).
3)Though an Engineer,I have deep understanding of many social sciences like Economics,Politics,Linguistics..etc.
4)I can speak 1-2 Foreign languages(not fluently..but can converse at an elementary level)

My Acads:
70% in Engg which would translate to may be 3.5 CGPA
Good Acads even at School.

My Negative Points:
I have hundreds of certificates to substantiate my claims at school level when I was (12-16).
But,I donot have many certificates(extra-curricular) at the University,Office Level.
But,I do definately carry the Aura I described above with me as I am really good in whatever
I claimed above and can justify in the interview.Do,the Ad-coms ask me to show a certificate
for everything?

Thanks a lot Jeremy!!

Given what you wrote, I'd say that schools such as Darden and UCLA are stretch schools for you.

Thanks Alex,

Alex,I would like to know where the weakness lies in what I stated..It would
be very helpful..

Someone told, what I wrote makes me sound like a nerd..Did you feel that?
Or whatever I wrote is far too common in applicants..

Thanks a lot,
Sumit

how did you convert your 70% to 3.5 GPA? I need to convert mine too.
