I wrote GMAT 2 weeks back, got a score of 730 (50q,38v) , but I forgot to confirm the analysis of Issue part. Today, I got my official score report with only 4.0 AWA and when I called GMAT customer care , they told me that analysis of issue wouldn't be counted, if I did't confirm it. I think I can perform better. Should I retake the exam . Cliche is I am again busy with my work and round 1 application deadlines are fast approaching. Please suggest.

I'm a little confused by your post - I'm not sure exactly what happened.

Analysis of an Issue is one of the two essays you wrote on the test. When you say you didn't confirm it, do you mean at the end of writing the essay, you didn't click the "next" and "confirm" buttons? And then they said that they would not score the essay if you forgot to confirm it when you took the test?

If that's what happened, that's odd, because I have spoken with my contact at GMAC about this issue before, and she told me that the test will accept whatever is typed into the window if the time runs out before the person has a chance to click next and confirm.

In fact, this must happen all the time (that people run out of time before officially finishing the section), so it doesn't make sense that they would not count it if you don't confirm it - they'd have a ton of people with zero's simply because they didn't click confirm at the end. (And I know that they do accept a selected answer on the multiple choice portion if the test runs out before you can click next and confirm.)

Let me know if I am understanding correctly what actually happened. If so, I will talk to my contact again to see what she says. I suspect that you got some bad information from whoever answered the phone when you called.

In any event, you got a fantastic multiple choice score, including a score in the low 80s on verbal. I personally wouldn't worry too much about a 4.0 on the AWA - BUT I'm not the best person to ask. An admissions consultant is. Go to our "ask an admissions consultant" folder, explain your situation, tell them where you want to apply, and ask what they think.

This is interesting. I will definitely make sure that I submit my essay before 30 min.

As I mentioned in my last post, my understanding (and this was confirmed by my GMAC contact) is that the test will accept whatever is there if you run out of time while writing the essays. Just FYI! (Though, of course, it is good to try to finish a minute or two early, so that you don't run out of time right in the middle of a sentence!)
