Hi Manhattan Team !

Iam looking at giving the GMAT sometime later this year. I just got to know about your institute at one of the popular MBA discussion forums.

Iam basically an engineer with an MBA and 2 yrs work exp. I have deep interests in Public policy, poverty economics and stuff - i would want to do a phd work in this area. But frankly i have nothing to prove that iam a good candidate for such a program apart from my real yearning to make a difference to the less-fortunate.

how good do you think are my chances and what kind of GMAT scores should I be looking in for ? Besides, do you have any training institutes in India? do you have a test series to which one could get enrolled to prior to the actual GMAT ?

Hello Aspirant,

Most people take the GMAT in order to get into an MBA program. If you already have the MBA degree, you are ahead of most people that use ManhattanGMAT.

For a U.S. Ph.D. program, they generally accept the GRE (though many also accept the GMAT). It is impossible to know what score you'd need for different programs, as one would need to know about the particular program and your background. However, most programs would want scores in the upper quartile (top 25% or so).

We don't have programs expressly in India, though one of our Instructors just moved to Bangalore to work at a think-tank. Most Indian students either utilize our online resources or, in some cases, take our live online course. You can attend the 1st session of an online course free of charge. Just check out the website, under Programs/Free Events.

I hope that the above is helpful! Regards, - Andrew
Thankyou !

I greatly appreciate the prompt and elaborate response from your end. This does create a posiitve brand image on your institute.

Thanks for the information on the online course stuff - i hope to check it out soon. BTW do you have an online test series that one could subscribe too ?

Thanks

Sankar :)

Sankar,

Sure, we have a bank of 1200 questions (6 + fully adaptive exams) available at:

http://www.manhattangmat.com/Store.cfm

Just use the pull-down menu for "Online." The online content also accompanies any book purchase from ManhattanGMAT.

Best of luck in your preparation! - Andrew

why is there a marked price diff.. between the sentence correction books sold in Manhattan store and that in Amazon - looks like what Amazon sells is also brand new.

would buying from amazon mean - we may not have access to the online tests ?

Yes, as long as you have the original MGMAT book (whether cheap or expensive) you will have online access to MGMAT CAT

Just to confirm-

Yes, there is no difference between a NEW MGMAT Strategy Guide purchased from Manhattan GMAT's website and one purchased at Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Big retail stores offer discounts on their own - we do not set prices together.

But the key here is that it's a new book. If you buy from one of Amazon's resellers or if you buy the book used from any other source, you may end up with an online access key (a serial code in the back of the book) that has already been used.

Happy studying,
