Which concentration in MBA is best for a person with IT background and managerial experience in manufacturing industry if he has interest in consumer products or sports industry?

Many people advise to go for general management but according to some articles on the internet admission committee is not impressed by this. So how can a person with IT background impress them if he really wants to go for general management. Or should he lie about his career goal?

It's not about specialties or majors - the MBA is essentially a collection of survey courses.

Moreover, adcoms aren't looking for one career path or some prescribed formula where you're supposed to say this if you want to get into this school and so forth.

They are looking for sincerity, credibility, and specificity -- two people can say similar things, but one will be more compelling than the other.
