I did a GMAT prep software exam and scored:

37 Q (15 wrong) / 41 V (13 wrong) and got a 610. I read through previous posts and I think Stacey mentioned that 35-38 V = 75-85th percentile. I suppose my math score is bringing down my scores? What do I need to get in Q to get in the 80th percentile? I always thought a higher verbal score would show up in the score, but it doesn't seem like this is the case here.

That would be 75th-85th percentile in verbal only, not quant and not overall. The quant and verbal scores are not on the same scale for some reason - in other words, 35-38 in quant is not 75th-85th percentile. It's more like 45th-55th percentile. 80th percentile in quant is about a 46.

All very confusing, I know - just remember that although the verbal and quant scores use the same number range (0-60), those numbers don't actually mean the same thing. The scale is different. So you have to look at the percentile numbers in order to interpret your performance.
