which letter represents s^13 ?

is this problem actually from the gmat prep software? this folder is strictly for problems from that software.

* first of all, this problem cannot be solved as currently written -- it depends on the value of s.
for instance, if s = 2, then the answer would be “g”; if s = 3, then the answer would actually be the next letter after “h”.
here, i'm assuming that “evenly spaced” means that the distance between each consecutive pair of letters is the same.

* second of all, the gmat is A LOT more specific and more careful about writing problem statements than this. there is no way that any official problem would ever say “an evenly spaced line”, for instance, because that phrasing is technically meaningless (a line itself doesn't have a spacing). if a problem like this were to appear on the official test, the problem statement would say something like “the distance between each pair of consecutive points is the same”.

therefore, i conclude that this problem is not actually from the gmat prep software, and so we will delete this thread within one week.
