In sentence correction questions where several modifying phrases are modifying a single noun, is it a general rule that the subject should be positioned or united with its verb as closely as possible?

If you have subject and verb close by then great...
but if you dont have then make sure that the meaning of the sentence is clear...Delaying the main verb of the sentence can make the meaning of the sentence a bit obscure..
