Dear Instructors,

I know this question has been asked time and again, yet to clear the smoke in my head i am tempted to ask it once more.
How fair approximation is the MGMAT CAT score of the final GMAT?
I have three weeks to my real GMAT, and my performance in the past 3 MGMATS (CAT 3, 4, and 5) are as follows:-
MGMAT3 MGMAT4 MGMAT5
670(Q45/V36) 700(Q47/V38) 700(Q44/V41)
All of the above were timed tests. And all were in GMAT like conditions other than the third one where an important call during the quant section disturbed me for a short while.

The number of questions in various difficulty levels:
500-600 - 2 or 3
600-700 - 15-20
700-800 - 15-20

This is my second attempt at GMAT and I want to be doubly sure that I improve upon my earlier score.

For the past couple of months i have referred the MGMAT verbal books and i guess that is why my verbal scores have improved.

Please let me know if the MGMAT scores closely resemble the actual GMAT or if i need to subtract anything from the MGMAT score to come closer to actual GMAT.

PS: I know people who have scored 760-780 in MGMAT but 700 in the real gmat and hence my doubt, by that proportion it seems am still the ~620 level.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,

We created our CATs to mimic the real GMAT as closely as possible and we think that they give you a pretty accurate indication of your ability level. That said, only GMAC, the maker of the GMAT, knows and uses the official scoring algorithm. To get the most accurate indication of your score, take one of the two free practice GMATPrep tests that GMAC offers on mba.com.

Dear Matt,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

This is my second attempt at GMAT, my previous score was 620(q48/v28). Post the fiasco I bought the Manhattan verbal books and i have learnt a lot from them, my verbal has certainly improved, please convey my thanks to the entire Manhattan team for making such great books.

As per your suggestion i took the GMAT Prep - 1, i had last written it in the month of May this year, so this was a repeat attempt. My score was 750(q49/v44), i am assuming this is not the correct evaluation of my perspective score, as the questions on the test were repeated, though am not sure if I remembered all the questions, however the element of surprise was not there in the verbal section atleast.
I have almost finished all my MGMATs as i had specified in my previous post, at this point am not really sure what tests should i try. I tried Catprep.com - the one test i wrote i scored 610(q44/v29), I have the GMAT scheduled pretty soon, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Awaiting your response eagerly.
PS: I write essays on all tests.
My breaks are less than 8 mins.

Hey,

If you're looking for some extra practice exams, Manhattan GMAT students get a discount on 800 Score exams. For more information, click on the CAT Exams & Diagnostics tab in your Student Center and then click on Additional CAT Exams in the right menu.

That said, when it comes to practice exams, less is usually more. You want to make sure that you're not just taking test after test without reviewing your performance and working to fix your weaknesses. You can find a really good article on that here: http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... ice-tests/

Best of luck!
