Good evening staff,
I'm a student from India. I'd purchased MGMAT test-series last year and appeared for GMAT(670, 50, 29, 5.5) on 17th Mar'09.
I took a break of one year and again starting to prepare. I have a question, if I purchase MGMAT test-series again this year, how different questions would be from last year (I took tests last year on Jan'2009).
Also, as you see my verbal score was very poor. I want to know if there is some special course which can help me overcome verbal weakness.

Any other suggesstion is highly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Hi,

Thanks for your questions, and congrats on a good GMAT score!

In terms of studying for the exam, I would suggest that instead of purchasing another year's worth of access to the CATs you might want to buy our Sentence Correction Strategy Guide, which comes with the same access to our CATs that you would otherwise be purchasing. This book would be helpful in getting your verbal score up while giving you the CAT access you were looking to buy. You can check it out in the store here: http://www.manhattangmat.com/storeitems ... 26&catid=6 and find a bookseller in India here: http://www.manhattangmat.com/intl-book-stores.cfm#india (though if you don't buy it directly through us I would caution you to make sure you're buying a new version, as used versions would not come with access to the tests.)

In terms of the CAT questions, we are constantly changing the questions in the pool (swapping out old ones and putting in new ones) but in the time since you last had access it probably wouldn't have changed significantly enough for you encounter all new questions. However, if you study and start getting higher level verbal questions, you will certainly be seeing new questions!

Thanks for the reply.
One small doubt before I go ahead with the purchase. The sentence correction guide is showing cost as $26, whereas the online tests are costing $39.
That means along with SC book I get the same 6 tests free + 25 question bank.
Am I missing something here ?

Hi,

Your observation is indeed correct. We charge less for the book than for just the purchase of our CATs because we believe that the best way to prep for the course involves learning the material first, and doing practice tests second. We try to encourage this with the price difference you pointed out.

Don't worry, though, you will get a year's worth of access to our CATs and the 25 SC questions in the online question bank when you buy the book (so long as you buy a new copy)!

Thanks very much.
I really liked MGMAT's approach. I'm going ahead with the purchase.

I have access to 6 MGMAT CATs. I see that the student can buy 5 more extra CATs from http://www.800score.com/manhattan.php

Are these 800score CATs different from MGMAT CATS? and whether they have all new questions?

Many thanks,
Ashok

Hi

800score is a different company from Manhattan GMAT. While we do believe that our exams are more predictive of your actual score than other practice tests, if you do feel you need more tests, you will find that these are completely different.

I would also point you in the direction of mba.com, from which you can download two GMAT Prep tests, produced by the GMAC, which writes the actual test.

Hi Caitlin, Though I am answering Manhattan GMAT's Challenge Problem of the week correctly, I am not getting selected as winner.

Hi Ashok,

The Challenge Problem Showdown is a random drawing each week and is therefore based entirely on statistical probability. This means that unfortunately it is not based on the number of times any individual enters the competition. If you are curious about who won, each week we write the names of our winners on our facebook page, provided the winners are willing to let us publish their names.

Best,
Caitlin

Hi
Caitlin, Ashok

I am also planning to purchase MGMAT test.
As mentioned above if a buy I SC book I will get 6 MGMAT CAT and 25 question banks extra???
If this is the deal I will surely buy the book.

How different or beneficial would it be if I buy the tests alone and drop the idea to buy SC book?

Please clarify

Regards

Hi daksh2684,

It actually makes more sense to buy the book and use the accompanying CAT exams than to by the CAT exams alone. You actually get the CATs for less by redeeming them by buying a book!

Hi,
I am from Bangalore, India. I want to buy the SC guide and tried to buy it off the online store. But I read in your order page that a shipment charge may be applicable. When I went to the Fedex page (link provided in your site) the calculation turns out to be 80 dollars odd.
On further research, I found from this URL http://www.manhattangmat.com/intl-book-stores.cfm#india that you have stores in Bangalore. Could you please clarify if I can buy the SC guide from these stores? And if I did, will I be granted access to the 6 online practice tests?

Regards,
Rajiv
