"Planting all these seeds is more involved than I thought"

Could you please help me understand the above sentence better? as the book suggest that the above sentence is completely correct.

I feel: "Planting all these seeds is more involving than I thought" would be more appropriate.

Thanking You,
Neha

Sorry it has taken us so long to get back to you! Forum traffic has been very high for the past couple of weeks.

Yes - you want a past participle here (involved) not a present participal (involving). This is a bit of an unusual usage of the word involved - it means something similar to "complicated."
eg:
Planting these seeds is more complicated than I thought.
Planting these seeds is more complicating than I thought.

In either case, you're simply saying that the situation is a complicated situation. If you were trying to say that a situation is currently causing another situation to become more complicated, then you would use complicating. eg, The strong winds are complicating our efforts to stop the spread of the fire.

I don't understand why we should use "is" instead of "are" in this problem. I was under the impression that "All these seeds" should be considered plural. "All" is part of the SANAN pronouns and seeds is plural.

Planting all these seeds (IS/ARE) more involved thant I thought.

I know that "are" does not sound right, however, I can't explain why it should be "IS."

Thank you!
