Question # 5

A cyclist travels the length of the bike path that is 225 miles long , rounded to the nearest mile . If the trip took him 5 hours , rounded to the nearest hour , then his average speed must be ?

And as per the Book is Between 40 and 51 mph

The solution considered takes takes the Range of Distance between 224.5 and 225.5 and time between 4.5 and 5.5 , which i feel is inappropriate . 225.5 and 5.5 when rounded up gives 226 and 6 respectively . The range should be between 224.5 and 225.4 for Distance , and between 4.5 and 5.4 for time . Consequently , the range of Speed should be 41 and 51 and hence Answer E
