I was also struggling in verbal :)

I suggest you a few points, might help you

1) Get Aristotle SC grail, if you are non native speaker ( i am so, it worked out well along with manhattan SC )

2) For CR , Powerscore is good but very lenthy, rather i suggest you to prepare your own notes and your own strategy for each Q types and then practice it as much as possible

3) RC - go through the RC sessions of Ron - thursdays with ron, again carve out your own strategy, and then practice the strategy

Trust me this works :)

If you wanna know the sample strategy, drop me a mail i would share the same.

i did mgmat sc and rc ..but i find difficult to implement the concepts.. ..i did all og 10 11 ..in the test ..the time was running and and i was just trying to complete the test within 75 min....solving the question with in 1 min was like impossible..
in sc i was so confused everthing option seems to be gud.. was just black out..
i was able to solve very few questions of cr ..but they were really very few..
i dont know whether i sould say or not..but really i did all 1000 sc rc nd cr doc, gmat prep doc, i tried to solve evry questions by searching them in google nd just finding out the fundas ..still was not able to make out nything..now dunnt noe from where should i sstart again...i did manhattan sc..but they are so basic level...i think i now the concepts ..but how to implement them ..is a big question for me...like in Rc if i hav to solve them in 6 min ,hardly 1 or 2 will be correct ...time limit is a big factor..same case with cr ..i could solve cr in 4 min but solving it in 1.5 m in is really impossible...
its getting long query ..but will be really grateful to u if u can suggest something ow to improve... i m waiting for your reply ...plz help me

Hi Deepti,

Happy new year.. i am sure not sure if you asked me to comment or not , but i would give my two cents , may help you.

What i understand from your post is , three issues

1) Timing strategy
2) Concept implementation
3) What to do now ?

First of all, you gotta know at what stage of prep you are, what i understand form your post is that you are through with concepts.

Now, being a non native speaker , do not accept yourself to master all the concepts of strategy guides at one go only, make your own notes and strategy for each types of questions ( i know its time consuming , takes 2 hrs for one type, i have done it, but no option ) , this exercise will help you in RETAINING the concepts because you can revise the one pager document multiple times.

Prepare a list of markers for each types of SC problems, this will help you in deciding how to make 3/2 splits ? this works like magic and will help you in solving the first problem of answering the Question within time... the moment you know which type of Q it is... and then if you have your strategy ready... u can attack the Question very fast.

Same strategy goes for CR and RC as well.... please understand if you have a simple yet effective four/five step strategy for yourself ( for each of the Q types ) , you would save a lot of time... so , prepare a strategy.... then practice the strategy to make it second nature of yourself.

Above mentioned strategy building and practicing will help you solve your problem of concept implementation.

One genuine suggestion -- never ever practice Qs where you dont have solutions... 1000 series is the document i would never touch.

I am sure if you know the answer of 1st and 2nd issues, you know the best what to do now ... :) and prepare an ERROR LOG if you have not.... you gotta know where u are wrong and where you are right :)

you are most welcome to share your progress.

good luck

Thanks for sharing your comments, versatile. The main thing I would add to this is that your real objective needs to be to fully understand every official guide problem that you do. Realistically, you don't need outside resources as long as you're doing what you need to with the official guide problems. Make sure you read and understand the solutions thoroughly, and aim for a clear understanding not only of why the correct answer is correct but also why all four wrong answers are wrong for each verbal problem you do. If you read the solutions and they still don't make sense, figure out what is causing you trouble and review those concepts in our strategy guides or ask questions here on the forums. Once you've got a thorough understanding of the questions you're reviewing, then of course you will probably want to take a look at how you're doing on timing, but it sounds like your primary goal at this point should be to get a more thorough understanding of the problems you've done so that you can translate that skill set to new problems..
