Can someone please explain the answer for this ? I dont understand the MGMAT CAT explanation.

Thanks.

If x, y, and z are integers greater than 1, and (327)(510)(z) = (58)(914)(xy), then what is the value of x?

(1) y is prime

(2) x is prime

As with so many questions, the trick here is to represent the values as products of primes. Well, primes and variables, in this case.

(327)(510)(z) = (58)(914)(xy)

becomes

2*3*3*5*17*109*z=2*2*29*457*x*y

You can divide the two sides by much, but

3*3*5*17*109*z=2*29*457*x*y...

Hmm, you must have misread the question. There's no way that the two statements could both be true. And there's no way that you would be expected to recognize 457 as a prime number.

Get back to us with the correct question.

Please see this thread, which contains the correct question and answer: if-x-y-and-z-are-integers-greater-than-1-and-t9863.html The question above is not an accurate representation of the actual question.

hey i have some problems while solving this by using number properties but i couldn't find the correct answer so please help me out to get rid from this silly problem.

Problem:
A number when divided by a divisor leaves a remainder of 24. When twice the original number is divided by the same divisor, the remainder is 11. What is the value of the divisor?

Thanks in advance,
NICK

Actually, geeknick, we’re not going to answer that question in this thread. You need to start a new thread for a new problem, and be sure to cite the source of the problem, AND tell us what you tried and why the solution you encountered didn’t help..
