Help needed in this SC: Modifier

I am hearing various openions on the answers...


Tutors, My quesry is

1) Are there any PHRASES (or sth else) that can be used to modify a senetece except Present and Past Participles? If yes what all are those?

Stuck between D and E ...

E - as well as does not sound right.... should be and
D - Them - pronoun error...

tutors please help...

My mistake. i really do not know and it was in my records for which i needed clarification. Going forward, i will sure to post the source as i have been taking Manhattan tests.

My pick is D. When do we use "among them" vs "among these" what is the difference ?

"them" objective pronoun referring to objective noun, which would be challenges. I also pick D. Anyone has the OA?
